According to ESPN, Real Madrid have contacted Newcastle United about a possible move for Eden Hazard.

The Belgian superstar has had a rough time at the Bernabeu following his big money move to the Spanish capital in 2019.

And ESPN state that Los Blancos are considering moving the 30-year-old on in a bid to raise funds.

They reportedly want to sign Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe next summer, and need an influx of cash to help secure both deals.

That’s why intermediaries have reportedly sounded out Premier League clubs to see if they would be interested in taking Hazard back to England. Chelsea have been contacted as well as Newcastle, but ESPN state that it is unknown whether or not they are interested.

Of course Newcastle would be interested in Eden Hazard…

According to ESPN, the new Newcastle owners will want to make a marquee signing in January. However, that sounds more like an opinion than insider information.

But Hazard would certainly be a marquee arrival. Despite his woes at Real Madrid, he is still one of the best players on the planet on his day. Sadly, he hasn’t had many of those days since leaving Chelsea.

The Magpies certainly have the finances to afford Hazard, but that’s only half the battle.

There’s surely no chance that he would be interested in a move to St James’ Park. Despite our wealth, we are still battling to avoid relegation.

While massive clubs might want to pawn off their deadweight to us, big players aren’t going to want to join Newcastle until we’re at least challenging to be in Europe.

File this one under the ‘not likely’ category…
