Newcastle United have reportedly looked into possibility of signing Djibril Sidibe this month.
Foot Mercato have claimed the Magpies have made an enquiry about signing the French full-back, who can supposedly leave AS Monaco this month.

Supposedly, a fee somewhere between £4.5 million and £6.3 million could be enough to seal a deal.Newcastle aren’t the only side keen, with Marseille also named by Foot Mercato.
Sidibe will be a name familiar to some Newcastle supporters, with the 28-year-old having spent last season on loan at Everton.
He made 25 appearances for the Toffees, who ultimately opted not to trigger their option to buy clause.

With DeAndre Yedlin’s contract expiring this summer, a link to a new right-back is unsurprising.
Newcastle are thought to want to extend the USA international’s stay at St. James’ Park, but SBI Soccer recently reported he is mulling over a ‘serious’ offer from an unnamed MLS side.
Sidibe could be decent, cost-effective addition
Sidibe has previously shown fantastic quality – his form in the 2016/17 season was key to Monaco winning the Ligue 1 title.
His performance against Manchester City in the Champions League that season also prompted Rio Ferdinand to liken him to Cafu (and Benjamin Mendy to Roberto Carlos, BT Sport via Metro).

While there are better options out there, the Yedlin situation may mean Newcastle will need to act quickly, and Sidibe at least has some Premier League experience.
The star, whose best attribute is arguably his crossing, can operate as a wing-back and at left-back, meaning he could be worth a punt.
