Newcastle United are one of three teams interested in Brest full-back Romain Perraud.
According to L’Equipe, the Magpies are keen on the 23-year-old, who got 10 goal contributions in 2020/21 (three goals, seven assists).
He’s been at Brest for two years, and has a contract until 2025.
According to GFFN, it’s expected Perraud will fetch at least €10 million (£8.5 million) for the club this summer.
Apparently it’s Southampton who are currently leading the race, which also includes Leeds United.
The Saints have apparently been in contact with the player since January.
Newcastle potentially have need for a new left-back this summer.
Jamal Lewis had a difficult first campaign at St James’ Park, and one wonders if he could be sent out on loan.
Perraud would be a good signing
Perraud is an exciting talent.
10 goal contributions from left-back is impressive going, and clearly suggests he’s a full-back with attacking qualities.
That could make a him a really good fit at wing-back if Steve Bruce turns to that system again in 2021/22.
It seems like Southampton might make any deal difficult, and so Newcastle may need to act quickly if Perraud is someone they do like the look of.
