Newcastle United are reportedly monitoring Leeds United star Tyler Roberts.

The 13-cap Wales international’s contract expires in the summer of 2022, meaning he could well depart Elland Road this summer.

Apparently there is an extension offer on the table from Leeds.

Newcastle are reported by the Daily Mail to be keeping an eye on the situation and have scouted Roberts.

They believe in the 22-year-old’s potential, and Steve Bruce would like to add to the club’s British contingent.

It is understood that the Whites would want in the region of £10 million for the versatile winger if he is to be sold this summer.

Roberts has been with Leeds since January 2018, signing from West Bromwich Albion.

So far he’s clocked up 80 first-team appearances for the club.

A potential bargain to be had

With the player’s contract expiring in a year’s time, there is potential for a bargain with Roberts.

It’ll be important for Newcastle to add quality this summer, and Roberts is someone who could be a decent addition for the Magpies.

Beyond Allan Saint-Maximin, there are not too many options out wide right now.

Ryan Fraser has shown glimpses but hasn’t really got going at St. James’ Park yet.

Roberts is someone that could come in and compete for a starting berth, and put pressure on players that would expect to start like Fraser and Miguel Almiron.
