Newcastle United reportedly made contact with Paris Saint-Germain regarding a potential loan move for Idrissa Gueye.
L’Equipe have claimed the Senegal international is wanted by the Magpies until the end of the current campaign and that the French champions are happy to go ahead with a deal, with GFFN adding that an agreement is in place

Unfortunately for Newcastle, the player is not so keen on a switch to St. James’ Park and would sooner stay put to fight for his place.
Gueye has struggled for minutes since the arrival of Mauricio Pochettino at the club, featuring for just nine minutes against FC Lorient and not getting off the bench against Angers and Montpellier.
He didn’t even make the matchday squad for the Trophees des Champions triumph over Marseille.

Gueye does not want to be sat on the bench, but he also does not want to make any knee-jerk decisions.
Gueye, of course, became a household name at Everton before making his £30 million move to Paris in the summer of 2019 (BBC Sport).
He became known for being one of the division’s top holding midfield players, bringing energy, tenacity and steel for the Toffees.
His ex-Goodison teammate Wayne Rooney said of him (The Times): “Everyone talks about Idrissa Gueye’s tackling and energy but what surprised me was his quality on the ball – he always looked to play it forward and to your feet.
Gueye could be big coup for Newcastle
Gueye would be a superb signing for Newcastle.

The star was absolutely fantastic for Everton and knows the Premier League and its nature very well.
He wouldn’t exactly help the Magpies with their creativity issues, but he would certainly help Steve Bruce’s side tighten up by acting as a defensive shield.
But it seems nothing will happen unless the player has a change of heart at the last minute and with that in mind, Newcastle fans ought to focus their attention on other reported targets such as Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Olivier Ntcham and Hamza Choudhury (Daily Mail).
