Former Newcastle United defender Chancel Mbemba has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Liverpool.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Reds have registered an interest in the FC Porto star, who has enjoyed a fine season with the Portuguese giants.

Mbemba, who left St. James’ Park in 2018, has been a regular in Sergio Conceicao’s defence this season and has been a rock.
He is now a Champions League quarter-finalist after helping his side topple Juventus over two legs, and it seems his impressive displays have seen him become coveted.
TMW say Liverpool are keen as well as Napoli, and that Porto value the DR Congo international at around £12.8 million.
Jurgen Klopp has had torrid luck with injuries this season with many affecting his defence.
He signed Ozan Kabak on loan in January, as well as Ben Davies permanently from Preston North End.
Another player thriving away from Newcastle
So it seems Mbemba could well end up back in the Premier League.

But even if he doesn’t, it’s still another player who is thriving after leaving Newcastle.
It has been the same story with the likes of Florian Thauvin, Kevin Mbabu, Mikel Merino Adam Armstrong, Ivan Toney.
Hopefully Mbemba doesn’t make a move to Anfield as that would really be a kick in the teeth for a lot of Newcastle fans who never wanted to see him sold when he was.
