Newcastle United are set to move for Josh King in the summer if he chooses to see out his current contract with Bournemouth, according to The Sun.
The 28-year-old is now into the final six months of his deal at the Vitality Stadium, and is being chased by several sides at the moment.
The Sun are reporting that Everton are keen to swoop, and that a swap deal could be possible involving King and the defender Jarrad Branthwaite.
It is thought the Cherries are hoping to cash in this month so that they don’t lose King for free, but ultimately King will have the final say.
The Sun explain he could well stay at the club beyond January though, despite Bournemouth wanting to move him on.
If that happens, Newcastle will supposedly move for the striker on a free transfer.
That would be the second time they’ll have done that in the space of a year, following the signing of Ryan Fraser in 2020.

Landing the versatile King for free would be brilliant business by Newcastle, as Callum Wilson could do with some help in attack.
And his previous parternship with King at the Vitality Stadium was impressive, and Newcastle could well have a winning formula if they’re able to get him.
It remains to be seen if £45,000-a-week star King (Spotrac) will depart Bournemouth during the current window; it would certainly be a surprise if he didn’t given his quality and the level of interest in him.
