Of all the strikers linked with Newcastle, Olivier Giroud might be the best fit.
The French striker knows how to score goals, can act as an excellent target man and improve his teammates, all the while understanding the rough and tumble of the Premier League. And on top of that, he seems set to leave Chelsea.
Their article states that the World Cup winner would prefer a move to Italy, with Inter Milan keen on his signature. A move to the San Siro would see him link up with former boss Antonio Conte.
But if he does move to Inter, once again he’ll be a backup striker. Conte already has Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez, meaning Giroud might have to settle for Europa League minutes.
With just six months remaining on his contract, Giroud is available for nominal fee of £2.5 million, and he’s desperate to get first-team football ahead of this summer’s European Championships.
Is a guaranteed place in the starting XI the only way Newcastle can lure Giroud to the north east?
