Most Newcastle United fans are now hoping to see Joe Willock’s move to St. James’ Park turned permanent.
The midfielder came in clutch once again for the Magpies yesterday, when he popped up late on to score the winner against West Ham United.
Willock had started on the bench, but replaced Sean Longstaff on 81 minutes.
He climbed highest to head in Matt Ritchie’s cross to secure three big points for the Toon.
That’s three goals in black and white now for Willock, and it’s clear he improves the team.
That’s certainly something Steve Bruce would like to happen.
The manager said (Mirror): “We’d love to keep him here. He is the type of player you want to build your club around. Whether that is possible I am not so sure.
“He won’t want to be a super sub. As a young player I thought he had a really good impact. You dip them in and out. He is only 21 and a hell of a player and a great lad.”
That said, the Mirror claims that Bruce is currently unsure a deal – which could cost the club around £20 million – can be done.
Willock should become a priority for Newcastle
Newcastle simply have to sign Willock permanently.
It’s clear he’s really enjoying his time at the club and has already stated he’d be open to staying.
He brings different qualities to the other midfield options, and Newcastle simply have to generate the £20 million to spend on a player who has wonderful potential.
