Newcastle United have reportedly been joined in the hunt for Radu Dragusin by fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace.
According to a new report from Gazzetta dello Sport who mention the Magpies, the Eagles have now registered their interest in the young Romanian centre-half.
The player is out of contract at the end of the season and could well depart for nothing.
Dragusin made his first-team debut for Juve towards the end of 2020, but has struggled for opportunities with the team trying to chase down the Milan clubs at the top of Serie A table.
Palace’s interest comes as no surprise, with manager Roy Hodgson standing to lose Mamadou Sakho, Scott Dann and Gary Cahill this summer.
The trio are all out of contract, and one would imagine at least one will depart.
Newcastle are in a similar situation, with Fabian Schar and Federico Fernandez both out of contract this summer.
The race is on
Dragusin – who idolises Virgil van Dijk (via Sky in Italy) – is a hot prospect who clearly has exciting potential.
Juventus want to extend his contract, and there is apparently also interest from the likes of RB Leipzig and Tottenham Hotspur (Calciomercato).
Factoring all these things in, it’s going to be fairly difficult for Newcastle to win the race for Dragusin unless the club somehow finish the season amazingly and get into the top half, which realistically is highly unlikely.
