Report: Club think their £87m player will leave after Newcastle links, looking for replacements

Napoli think Newcastle United linked striker Victor Osimhen will leave the club this season, according to TuttoMercatoWeb.

As per the report, Luciano Spalletti wants to keep every single one of his players in Naples this month.

Despite this, there is a feeling that both Osimhen and defender Kim Min-jae will leave at some point this year, with the Serie A club actively searching for possible replacements.

The attacker is believed to be wanted by a whole host of clubs from around Europe, including the Magpies, Bayern Munich and Arsenal.

According to a previous report by Gazzetta dello Sport, it would take £87m to prise the Nigeria international away from Napoli.

Napoli think Osimhen will leave

The 24-year-old is enjoying an emphatic campaign in the Italian top-flight this season. In 11 Serie A matches, Osimhen has bagged nine goals and three assists.

This brings his overall total in a Napoli shirt to 38 goals in 76 games – demonstrating an incredible one-in-two strike rate.

Recently on Tyneside, Eddie Howe has had to rely on Chris Wood up front, as star strikers Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson have been absent due to injury.

With Newcastle still pushing for a spot in the top-four and subsequent Champions League qualification, they will need another reliable forward to add quality in depth to the squad.

Therefore, this could be a brilliant signing for the Toon, as Osimhen has established himself as one of the most clinical finishers in all of Europe.

However, having paid £63m to sign Isak from Real Sociedad, an £87m move for the Napoli man does appear somewhat unlikely.
