Newcastle have already started talks with Chelsea over loaning Conor Gallagher.
According to the Northern Echo, negotiations are ongoing with the Blues over the England Under-21 midfielder.
Gallagher impressed last season at West Brom but is now back in training with Chelsea.
But once Thomas Tuchel’s top players all return, the chances are Gallagher will be allowed to leave on loan.
Crystal Palace are also apparently keen but Steve Bruce is hopeful of getting the deal done ahead of the Eagles.
It’s not clear whether Gallagher would be an alternative to Joe Willock or whether Newcastle would look to sign both this summer.
Perhaps Willock could be bought while Gallagher comes in on loan, to use Newcastle’s budget efficiently.
Arsenal have still not made a decision on Willock’s future.
The report says Newcastle wanted Gallagher last season before he opted to join West Brom.
He’ll hope for better luck this time around and perhaps his prolonged interest will convince Gallagher to join this time around.
