Newcastle United may have received some good news with regards to their pursuit of Joe Willock.

The Magpies are known to be very keen to sign the 21-year-old as one of their own after his stunning few months on loan at St. James’ Park.

But there is potential for complication due to his form being so good, with Arsenal likely to demand a premium price.

But a report from AS yesterday claimed that the Gunners are keen to offer a ‘good amount’ to sign Martin Odegaard, who spent the second half of 2020/21 on loan at the Emirates Stadium.

The Norway international enjoyed a promising spell in north London.

He made 20 appearances for the club, scoring twice and making a couple of assists.

This information from AS could suggest that Arsenal are more open to offloading Willock, as Odegaard plays the same position as the Englishman.

A suggestion of Arsenal’s intentions?

Potentially this is a boost for Newcastle.

Given the emergence of Emile Smith Rowe, it just doesn’t really make sense for the Gunners to then have both Odegaard and Willock in their squad.

So the claim Arsenal want Odegaard back permanently surely means the intention is to sell Willock.
