Boubakary Soumare is reportedly on the radar of Leicester City, following links to Newcastle United.
The dynamic midfielder is a target for the Foxes according to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, who claimed on his Here We Go podcast that a summer swoop could be on the cards.
Soumare has again been a key player for Lille this season, with the club fighting for the Ligue 1 title along with Lyon and Paris Saint-Germain.
The Frenchman has made 21 league appearances so far, and has helped Lille to be a solid defensive outfit – they’ve conceded just 15 goals which gives them the joint-best record in the division.
Soumare’s link to Leicester comes after Newcastle wanted to sign the player just over a year ago, with BBC Sport reporting the Magpies saw a £35 million bid turned down – supposedly the player didn’t want the move.
Soumare now a pipe dream for Newcastle
There’s a good chance Soumare will be moving on this summer, as the player’s contract expires in 2022.
If he won’t sign an extension, Lille will need to sell in order to secure decent compensation for the 21-year-old.
With Leicester now reportedly in the picture, any move to Newcastle is surely unlikely – especially since he did previously turn the move down.
A move to the King Power is something that could well materialise, especially if someone comes in for the fantastic Wilfred Ndidi this summer.
