Newcastle United still haven’t signed anyone this transfer window.
It is proving extremely difficult to get new faces in, with the budget supposedly very restricted.
Joe Willock the man everybody associated with Newcastle wants.
But hopes the Englishman will return to St. James’ Park are rapidly fading.
Journalist Ian McGarry has claimed Arsenal want to keep the 21-year-old, with the Gunners having rejected an improved loan offer from Newcastle.
Steve Bruce is said to want to reinvigorate his midfield.
He might not be able to do that with Joe Willock, but a potential alternative may have just emerged.
Olivier Ntcham has today left Celtic after four years.
The star spent the second half of last season on loan at Marseille. He was signed, but Andre Villas-Boas never wanted him and resigned as a result of the deal.
At the moment, Ntcham is a free agent. It’s unclear if there is anything in the pipeline for him.
But Newcastle were linked with Ntcham back in January, with Sky Sports reporting Bruce wanted the Frenchman in on loan.
Ultimately, it was Willock who was brought in, with Ntcham going to Ligue 1 instead.
New Toon swoop?
If Newcastle are looking at free signings and loan deals, Ntcham surely has to be considered.
If Willock isn’t going to come back, then the Magpies need to move quickly to snap up an alternative.
Ntcham, like Willock, is a box-to-box kind of player and would bring not only energy to the middle of the park, but technical quality.
He may or may not have something lined up, but Newcastle have surely got to see what the situation is.
