Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to react after latest recruit Florent Indalecio admitted that he would play for free after penning a short-term contract.

The Frenchman has signed a deal until May following a successful trial period with the Magpies, after Allan Saint-Maximin spoke to the club to arrange the audition for his friend, according to The Chronicle.

Indalecio has until May to prove he is worthy of being kept on at St James’ Park, although his interview with The Chronicle after signing was an emotional one where he came across as someone determined not to let the opportunity slip away.

‘I love football, I play with passion. If Newcastle want to sign me for free I’ll play for free. It’s not a problem. They will not regret signing me, because I know I will help the team and I will try to give my best.’

After all, it was only recently that he was working on a construction site in Australia!

Having said that he’d be willing to play for free, Magpies supporters on Twitter have jumped on those quotes in humorous fashion, with some saying that Mike Ashley will be all over that admission.

It will be interesting to see how the striker – who scored a bicycle kick in training during his trial period – fares on Tyneside.

He joins Bradley Cross and Rodrigo Vilca as the other new recruits to link up with Chris Hogg’s Under-23 side.

Let’s see how the Newcastle fans on Twitter reacted to his admission…
