PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko has been linked with a move to Newcastle United in January.
Bakayoko has been an asset to PSV, helping them go six points clear at the top of the Eredivisie this season.
The 21-year-old has nine goal contributions in 21 games so far this season, including a goal and assist in the Champions League. Newcastle hold an interest in Bakayoko as a result of his fine form.
Newcastle want a winger in January, and Bakayoko could be an ideal candidate to arrive and replace Miguel Almiron at St James’ Park, who looks likely to leave the club this month.
Sporting director Paul Mitchell is thought to be a big fan of Bakayoko, who has 18 caps for the Belgium national team.
Bakayoko is valued at around £50million, but recent words from a close ally to the winger suggest Newcastle may struggle to get his signature in January.

Bakayoko’s agent quashes exit rumours
Signing Bakayoko was already going to be difficult for Newcastle, but now it could be impossible.
That is because Bakayoko’s agent Gerard Witters has provided an update on his client’s future.
“Bakayoko will not leave PSV this season, regardless of the amount,” said Witters via the Sunday Mirror.
Newcastle’s options away from Bakayoko
While news of Bakayoko staying at PSV is a blow, Newcastle are boosted by the current form of Jacob Murphy.
The 29-year-old is enjoying an incredible run in the team, scoring three goals and providing six assists in the Premier League this season. He is only one assist away from equalling his best ever tally.
However, since Howe’s arrival in 2021, the right wing has been a position of weakness. While everywhere else on the pitch improved, the players in that part of the pitch have stayed the same.
That is why Newcastle are looking for reinforcements, and the club do have alternatives to Bakayoko.
Newcastle want Bryan Mbeumo, who is having an exceptional season at Brentford with 13 goals in 20 Premier League games.
The Magpies have also expressed an interest in signing Southampton star Tyler Dibling. Despite being just 18-years-old, he has made 19 Premier League appearances this season.
Elsewhere, Newcastle are keeping tabs on Takefusa Kubo, who plays for Real Sociedad in La Liga.
While a winger is a key position to strengthen, Newcastle also want to sign a striker and goalkeeper in January.
