Newcastle United are set to revive the club’s chase of Jeremiah St Juste this summer, after failing to secure the defender’s transfer from FSV Mainz 05 during the recent winter sales.
That’s according to Fussball Transfers, who note top European sides have maintained their admiration of the 25-year-old, despite St Juste missing large parts of the campaign through injury. He has so far only featured nine times, starting eight, in all competitions this term.
The centre-back has additionally only played twice since October after undergoing surgery on both shoulders. He returned from three months on the sidelines following an operation on his right shoulder, before having his left shoulder operated on due to consistent issues.

St Juste missing 19 Bundesliga fixtures has been a big blow for Mainz, who have struggled for consistency this season. Die Nullfunfer head coach Bo Svensson has previously hailed the Dutch enforcer as he ‘gives absolutely everything in order to make the team better’, as well.
He is also the fastest player in the entire German top-flight, clocking a top speed of 36.63 km/h this season. Bundesliga stats show him ahead of Bayern Munich dynamo Alphonso Davies (36.37) and Borussia Dortmund megastar Erling Haaland (36.3) so far this term.

Despite his injuries, Newcastle and Wolfsburg are expected to return to Mainz and explore St Juste’s transfer this summer. Bild journalist Christian Falk also cites interest from West Ham United, Leicester City, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen in the 6 ft 1 defender.

United chiefs had sounded out the conditions required to bring the Dutchman to St James’ Park this January, too. Sky Germany reported the club were ready to offer €15m (£12.5m), with Die Nullfunfer open to sanctioning his exit. A stance they will again take this summer.
St Juste is set to be the subject of widespread interest as the Groningen native will enter the last year of his contract in June. He penned a four-year deal upon moving to the Rhine River outfit from Feyenoord in 2019. But Mainz have yet managed to tie his future down.
