Replacing Alexander Isak is the problem that has been plaguing Newcastle United this summer.
Isak wants to leave, but is not going to be allowed to depart unless Newcastle United sign a suitable replacement and receive an acceptable offer.
Given those two factors, it is unlikely that Isak leaves Newcastle between now and 1st September.
The Magpies did try to facilitate a move away. There were big money moves for Hugo Ekitike and Benjamin Sesko, but they chose to move elsewhere.
With limited time remaining, there are not a lot of options out there for Eddie Howe.

Newcastle United offered Dusan Vlahovic
With less than a week to go before the summer transfer window slams shut, an option has been presented to Eddie Howe and Newcastle United.
According to TalkSPORT, Newcastle have been offered the chance to sign Dusan Vlahovic from Juventus.
They state that the 25-year-old is available for around £25million, which would make him a very cost-effective way of replacing Isak.
However, a move to St James’ Park does not appear to be on the horizon.
TalkSPORT state that, despite being made aware of Vlahovic’s availability, Newcastle United are exploring other striker options between now and the end of the summer transfer window.
Newcastle United’s last Serbian striker as Dusan Vlahovic emerges as an option
If Newcastle did sign Vlahovic, they would be signing a Serbia international. He has represented his country 36 times, scoring 14 goals.
When it comes to Serbia’s highest scorer ever, that honour belongs to a man that Newcastle United fans know very well.
Aleksandar Mitrovic has scored more goals for Serbia than any other player, finding the net 62 times for his country.
He has been prolific on the international stage, but it was a very different story when he was at St James’ Park.
Mitrovic had an up and down Newcastle United career. He was very much a cult hero on Tyneside, but arguably did not live up to the hype in black and white.
Arriving with ambitions of becoming the next Alan Shearer, Mitrovic scored 17 goals across 72 Toon appearances in all competitions.
He was sold in the summer of 2018 to Fulham, where he was much more successful.
