Roma do not want to sell Manu Kone
According to a report from TuttoMercatoWeb, Newcastle are among the clubs keen on French international Manu Kone.
He was wanted by Inter Milan in the summer but Roma held firm and kept hold of the 24-year-old.
Now, it is Newcastle who are pushing to sign Kone and it is thought he is near the top of their shopping list ahead of the January transfer window.
As keen as Newcastle might be, the problem is, Roma have already made it clear they will not be selling Kone. Apparently, manager Gian Piero Gasperini and the Roma owners are eager to keep developing this new project and they see Kone as a key part of that.
It’s also said that while Kone appreciates the interest from the Premier League and other avenues, he is happy at Roma and may even be open to contract talks with the Serie A side.
By the sounds of it, Newcastle are already going to have to move on from this particular transfer target and look elsewhere.

Newcastle need to line up January signings ahead of time
With just over a month to go until the start of the January transfer window, it’s crucial that Newcastle do not waste any time on targets that they cannot attain.
The window comes at a busy time in the season when Newcastle will be desperate to keep up good results. It’s also a period where many clubs are reluctant to actually sell players as it can be disruptive to lose anyone in the middle of the season.
Comment below! The one player who Newcastle United should sign in January is…
Kees Smit has made it clear how he feels about joining Newcastle, with a focus on getting regular football the key to his decision.
Newcastle could and should be able to offer that, especially if they sell Joe Willock with Crystal Palace interested.
It would make sense for Eddie Howe and the Newcastle United owners to get their ducks in a row now ahead of the window, cast aside any targets that don’t want to join the club, and head into the New Year ready to act.
