Newcastle United and Paul Mitchell have their eyes on another striker target ahead of 2025.
After two underwhelming transfer windows in 2024, Newcastle United are under pressure to get some deals over the line in the coming year.
Unfortunately, Profit and Sustainability Rules continue to limit the transfer budget, but Newcastle are prepared to sell a few players to make space for incomings.
There is a growing feeling that Newcastle will sell a big star in 2025 to raise funds and recent reports suggest that Alexander Isak is “gettable” for clubs as early as January.
If Isak does leave Newcastle in the New Year, there will be huge pressure on sporting director Paul Mitchell to find a fitting replacement.
Newcastle United interest in Charles De Ketelaere
One forward that has emerged on Newcastle’s radar is Atalanta’s Charles De Ketelaere.
According to Caught Offside, Newcastle are one of several Premier League clubs keeping an eye on the 23-year-old.
Newcastle tried to sign De Ketelaere in 2022 but failed to get a deal over the line. They have, however, remained interested in a deal and could try again in 2025.
West Ham, Aston Villa, Tottenham, Manchester City and Arsenal have also shown an interest in De Ketelaere following his superb start to the season.
The report suggests that De Ketelaere is valued at £40m by Atalanta, who currently sit at the top of the Serie A table in Italy.
Not only would De Ketelaere add strength to Newcastle’s striker department, but he has also impressed as a right winger – an area that the Magpies are desperate to improve.
Charles De Ketelaere is just as lethal as Alexander Isak
De Ketelaere is enjoying a brilliant start to the season with Atalanta with the talented Belgian scoring eight goals and providing nine assists in 23 appearances.

That equals Alexander Isak’s tally this season, with Newcastle’s Swedish star scoring eight in all competitions after netting in three consecutive Premier League matches for the Magpies.
De Ketelaere has been particularly impressive in the Champions League this season. He has scored three goals and provided four assists in his last three appearances in Europe.
