Nicolas Jackson to Newcastle United a no as club focus on other transfer targets

Newcastle United do NOT have Nicolas Jackson on their radar ahead of the summer transfer window after all.

Last summer, Newcastle United were interested in signing Jackson from Chelsea as they desperately looked for a new striker.

The forward, however, joined Bayern Munich on loan while Newcastle signed Yoane Wissa and Nick Woltemade, experiments that have so far not worked out.

If you had to choose – who would you rather STAYS at Newcastle United next season?

Both have been tipped to leave…

Recent reports from talkSPORT claimed that Newcastle have Jackson on their radar once more after Bayern confirmed he would not be kept on next season.

Still, according to journalist Luke Edwards, the forward is not under consideration right now.

Newcastle not currently interested in signing Jackson

On social media platform X, Edwards wrote: “Newcastle United are not currently interested in signing striker Nicolas Jackson. His name has not been mentioned in recruitment meetings at this stage. They have other striker targets for the summer though.”

Quite who the other targets are remains to be seen. Indeed, Newcastle are expected to sell one of Wissa or Woltemade this summer, and they will need replacing given William Osula’s future on Tyneside is seemingly always unclear.

Hard choice – but who are you selling if you were in charge? 🤔

Feel free to include anyone not pictured!

The profile of their other targets will be telling. This summer, Newcastle are expected to take a different approach to their scouting, having moved for Premier League experience last time out.

That approach has failed them, thus far. With that in mind, it will be fascinating to see if the club scour European markets more than the Premier League when the transfer window opens up.

Jackson has scored ten goals in 13 starts for Bayern and does have a proven track record in the Premier League following his time at Chelsea, even if the Senegal international did not always convince.

While Newcastle could certainly do worse than signing the 24-year-old this summer, Jackson himself is surely unlikely to be short of offers.

The search for a genuine striker at Newcastle is likely to go on for a while. Strap yourselves in for another busy summer.
