Newcastle United want to sign a right winger during the January transfer window.
That is the position in Eddie Howe’s squad that requires the most improvement, with Newcastle prioritising signing a winger.
However, it remains to be seen who Paul Mitchell will try to bring to St James’ Park.
Johan Bakayoko looks perfect for Newcastle, but that deal will not be easy. PSV do not want to sell Bakayoko in January, which will force the Magpies to look elsewhere.
Newcastle United offered Donyell Malen

While PSV do not want to let go of Bakayoko in January, it is a different story at Borussia Dortmund regarding Donyell Malen.
The Dutch attacker is very much available, and TBR Football insider Graeme Bailey has told Geordie Boot Boys that Newcastle United have been offered the chance to sign Malen.
Aston Villa have also been offered the former Arsenal forward, and it is Unai Emery’s side who are pressing ahead with trying to strike a deal.
“Villa are making strides with this one,” Bailey said.
“He ticks a lot of boxes for Newcastle in terms of where he plays. I’m not sure whether his personality would fit with Eddie Howe.
“He’s someone who Newcastle have looked at previously, and people know Newcastle are looking for a right-sided forward.
“He’s available for £25million, but Villa are trying to get a deal done quickly.”
Newcastle United saw how good Donyell Malen is last season
With Newcastle being offered the chance to sign Malen, it shows that there are options out there for the Magpies.
However, they will not sign players for the sake of it. If Malen is not a player who Eddie Howe or Paul Mitchell want then Newcastle will not try to buy him.
But they were made aware of his availability, and £25million could see him move to the Premier League and sign for Aston Villa.
He could be a decent signing for Villa, and Newcastle saw exactly how good Malen is last season.
The 25-year-old played against the Magpies in the Champions League last season, and won the player of the match award for his performance at St James’ Park.
However, it does not look like that performance will inspire Newcastle to challenge Aston Villa for Malen’s signature.
