Newcastle United have already been given the green light to sign ‘unbelievably fast’ forward

Newcastle United already have one forward who is unbelievably fast.

The Magpies are lucky to have Alexander Isak, who scored 25 goals in all competitions last season. It was the best season of his career, and it resulted in Dan Burn calling Isak ‘world class’.

He is certainly proving to be exactly that, which is why Newcastle were adamant that Isak was not leaving during the PSR nightmare last month.

What Newcastle need is better cover for Isak. Callum Wilson is a great goalscorer, but is unreliable when it comes to staying fit. Combine that with his contract status and the fact he is 32-years-old and it is easy to understand why the Newcastle hierarchy wants to sell Wilson.

If he goes, someone will need to arrive. Newcastle tried to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Everton, but that deal collapsed.

It has been suggested that Newcastle could revisit Calvert-Lewin later in the summer, but now the Magpies have another forward on their radar.

Give Me Sport have reported that Toon officials are interested in Lille striker Jonathan David.

The 24-year-old is an exciting option, and David has already admitted that he could leave Lille this summer.

Jonathan David has been told he can leave Lille

While David is waiting for an offer to arrive, Lille have already made it clear that they will not stand in his way.

That is because Lille president Oliver Letang has already admitted that the Canada international can leave the Ligue 1 club this summer.

During a press conference last month to unveil new manager Bruno Genesio, Letang told the French media: “We have two players who will be allowed to leave: Jonathan (David) and Leny (Yoro).”

They are currently looking to move Leny Yoro on, with Manchester United having a bid accepted for the 18-year-old centre-back.

Jonathan David is available if Newcastle want him

Lille president Oliver Letang has made it very clear to Newcastle and any other suitor that they are willing to do a deal for Jonathan David.

That willingness should give the Magpies encouragement – or it could have been done to create a bit of a bidding war for a striker who has been relentless in front of goal.

David has been fantastic during his four seasons with Lille, hitting double figures year after year. In total, he has scored 84 goals in 183 appearances for Les Dogues.

Those numbers make him an exciting option for Newcastle, while he has also been described as ‘unbelievably fast‘ by Canada teammate Theo Bair.

Lightening quick and an incredible finisher in front of goal – David sounds exactly like Isak.

He really would be a brilliant addition to Eddie Howe’s forward line, and Newcastle have been given all the encouragement they need to make a move if they decide that David is the attacker they want.
