The biggest name linked with joining Newcastle United right now is Manchester City’s Jack Grealish.
The 29-year-old appears set to leave Manchester City during this summer’s transfer window, with reports claiming that Newcastle are interested in Grealish on loan.
It would be a huge surprise if the England international moved to St James’ Park. He is not really what the Magpies are looking for, nor does he contribute towards lowering the average age of the Newcastle United squad.
But Newcastle will consider Grealish if the finances are right for them, and some supporters would absolutely love it if he swapped the North West for the North East.

Newcastle United fans deliver Jack Grealish transfer verdict
Amid suggestions that Newcastle United could try to sign Grealish on loan, some Toon fans have taken to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express their desire to see the playmaker in a black and white shirt.
One supporter wrote: “Can’t see it but I would love Grealish at #nufc. Need that type of player who can create and unlock defences.”
A second Newcastle fan wrote: “I was getting pelters for saying I’d take him. He improves us. End of story.”
“This would be massive,” added this member of the Toon Army.
“Would 100% take Grealish on a loan deal,” commented another Newcastle supporter.
A fifth Newcastle fan wrote: “Grealish is a no brainer on loan. Experience at the top level, needs games and would be looking to prove people wrong. Howe won’t let him be a passenger. Squad depth is key.”
Finally, this Newcastle United supporter added: “All over Grealish if there is a chance.”
How Jack Grealish won Newcastle United the title in 2017
While many would be sceptical, there would certainly be some Newcastle United fans cheering if Grealish joined the club.
However, the biggest cheer from Newcastle United fans involving Grealish came in May 2017.
It was the final day of the Championship season and Rafa Benitez’s side had already confirmed promotion to the Premier League. However, the title was still up for grabs.
The Magpies needed to beat Barnsley and then hope that Brighton would drop points to Aston Villa.
Benitez’s side won 3-0 against Barnsley, but it looked for all the world that Brighton were going to beat Aston Villa 1-0 and confirm top spot.
However, a stoppage time equaliser from Grealish changed the complexion of the title race. Word spread inside St James’ Park that Villa had equalised, with Grealish’s late goal ensuring that Newcastle United ended the 2016/17 Championship season as champions.
