Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is a transfer target for Newcastle United, and pundit Jamie Carragher believes that the winger can go on to ‘achieve anything’ in the game.

The 22-year-old is enjoying a remarkable first season in Italy, having joined Napoli last summer. Kvaratskhelia only cost them £9million, but he is now one of the best players in Europe and someone who Newcastle are looking to sign.

It was reported last year by the Times that the Magpies are interested in Kvaratskhelia. They reported that he was one of PIF’s top targets for the next two transfer windows.

A January move obviously was not forthcoming, but now the summer transfer window is on the horizon. He would be an incredible arrival at St James’ Park, although Napoli want him to stay and plan to offer him a new contract.

But the Georgian attacker is going to be a man in demand, and Carragher believes he has the ability to play for the biggest club in the world Real Madrid.

Jamie Carragher thinks Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is good enough for Real Madrid

The former Liverpool defender spoke to CBS Sports ahead of last night’s Champions League contests, and heaped praise on Kvaratskhelia.

“I think he’s the most exciting player in Europe,” Carragher said.

“I do believe that. Very rarely do we see someone like him come along. You’ve seen the actual price tag he’s come for, and right now he looks like he’ll go on and achieve anything and play for Real Madrid. You could see him in a Real Madrid shirt next season.

“I think he’s a special, special player.”

Newcastle want an incredible talent

That is incredibly high praise from Carragher, and he is completely justified in saying it. Kvaratskhelia proved him right last night, and was influential in Napoli’s 2-0 win over Frankfurt.

He provided an assist during the Champions League Last of 16 first leg – his latest goal contribution in what is turning out to be an outrageous season.

Kvaratskhelia has now made 25 appearances in all competitions for Luciano Spalletti’s side. He has scored 12 goals and provided 15 assists. At his current rate, he is providing at least one goal a game.

His numbers are remarkable, which is why clubs all over the world are keen to sign him. The likes of Real Madrid, PSG and Manchester City have been linked.

Newcastle are also in the mix, and he would be a blockbuster signing by Dan Ashworth. However, a deal will surely only be possible if we qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Even that won’t guarantee his arrival, as Kvaratskhelia is proving that he has the ability to play for whoever he wants. Carragher thinks he is even good enough to play for Real Madrid, and it is hard to disagree.
