Newcastle United are reportedly planning a summer bid for Tottenham Hotspur’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
That’s according to the Mirror, who claim the 26-year-old midfielder has emerged as a target for the Magpies.
The Denmark international has been a key player at Tottenham in recent years, signed by Jose Mourinho in the summer of 2020.
He cost £15million from Southampton, and has been a mainstay in the Spurs starting XI despite now playing under his third manager.

The Mirror add that Roma are also interested in Hojbjerg, who are currently managed by the Special One. Clearly he’s a fan of the midfield enforcer.
But the report suggests Eddie Howe is too, with the Mirror claiming that Newcastle are planning a £30million bid.
That would make him one of our most expensive signings ever, behind Brazilian duo Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes.
Hojbjerg could join Bruno in the Newcastle midfield

If Hojbjerg does join Newcastle, he would no doubt partner Bruno in the middle of the park.
The Brazil international has been exceptional since his January move from Lyon, quickly establishing himself as a fan favourite.
Since joining Newcastle he’s played in a midfield three, predominantly alongside Joelinton and Jonjo Shelvey.
However, bringing in Hojbjerg could allow Howe to shift to a midfield two and get another attacking player on the pitch. They would certainly make a tenacious duo.

The Spurs ace has bags of energy and can protect the defence, proving to be a master of the dark arts. It’s no wonder Mourinho is such a big fan…
If Hojbjerg did join Newcastle, he would arrive with a lot of experience. He’s been playing in the Premier League since 2016. Before then he was with Bayern Munich, where he won a lot of silverware despite not being a key player.
Right now a move for Hojbjerg would come as a surprise. And it’s the kind of signing that probably wouldn’t excite supporters.
Certainly one to watch, but perhaps put this in the ‘unlikely’ column with all the other speculative rumours.
