Newcastle United remain firmly in the hunt for a new centre-back.
Time is fast running out for the Magpies to bring in a new defender who can help the backline become more solid.

Ideally, Howe needs two new faces at least.
Whether the new owners can facilitate a couple of deals before Monday’s deadline remains to be seen.
talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook has today provided an update on Newcastle’s search for a new centre-back.
The club are apparently still trying for Brighton’s Dan Burn.
Sky Sports reported yesterday that the club saw a bid of £10 million plus add-ons rejected.
And it’s bad news for fans hoping to see Newcastle make a late move for Diego Carlos and/or Sven Botman.
Crook says the chases for those two players appear over.
He adds that a move for Eddie Nketiah of Arsenal is also unlikely.
Newcastle need a marquee centre-back signing
There is probably a fairly reasonable chance of Newcastle signing Burn before Monday night’s deadline.
Sky report Brighton are looking for a fee between £12 million and £15 million.
But Newcastle fans should be worried if he is the only incoming.

The 29-year-old is a solid player, but Newcastle’s backline needs solidifying further and a marquee name is required.
Eddie Howe ideally needs someone with a good turn of pace, because that is something Burn lacks.
It looks like Carlos and Botman won’t be joining this month after all the talk, which is hugely frustrating as either would improve Newcastle’s weakest area drastically.
