Newcastle United will reportedly listen to offers for Jamaal Lascelles when the summer transfer window opens.
That is according to the Northern Echo, who state that the Toon captain now looks set to leave the club at the end of the season.
The report claims that the 29-year-old could lead a clear out at St James’ Park this summer, with Dan Ashworth looking to move on multiple fringe players. The likes of Ryan Fraser, Karl Darlow, Paul Dummett and Matt Ritchie could all follow Lascelles out the door according to the Northern Echo.
Seeing the centre-back depart would be the biggest surprise out the players listed above, although he has barely featured this season.
Despite still being the club captain, Lascelles’ minutes have been limited. He has started just one Premier League game so far, which was the 2-1 defeat to Liverpool – our only loss in the Premier League this season.

Lascelles has been a peripheral figure, with his biggest contribution coming from the sidelines. Incredibly, he has been booked twice this season when he hasn’t even been on the pitch.
He is still a leader at St James’ Park, and an ‘exceptional captain‘ in the words of Eddie Howe. But his time in the Toon dressing room could soon be coming to an end. And the Northern Echo believe he will have suitors in the Premier League.
Jamaal Lascelles could leave Newcastle for another Premier League club
The report adds that Lascelles will likely receive interest from Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton Wanderers. A move to either club would potentially allow him to continue playing in the top flight – if they can avoid the drop this season.
A transfer to Forest would certainly make sense, as that is where Newcastle bought him from in the first place. He arrived at St James’ Park as part of a double deal with Karl Darlow. They both signed for the Magpies in 2014, before spending another year on loan at the City Ground.
Not including the year on loan at Forest, Lascelles is now in his eighth season as a Newcastle player. Seven of those have been as captain, with Rafa Benitez giving him the armband in 2016.
Lascelles has been a really important player over the years, and led the club during a difficult period. He will be disappointed to not be playing as much right now, but must be delighted at seeing the progress that Newcastle are making.
His time with the Toon appears to be coming to an end, and what a way to go out if he is able to lift the club’s first trophy since 1969 later this month.
