Newcastle United have reportedly been joined in the hunt for Lewis O’Brien by Leeds United.
The Magpies were reported by The Sun recently to be considering a move for the Huddersfield Town youngster.

O’Brien’s great form last term has supposedly attracted several Premier League clubs.
The central midfielder featured in 42 Championship games. He scored three goals.
According to the Chronicle, Steve Bruce has earmarked O’Brien as a possible signing for a nominal fee.
If Newcastle were hoping for a straightforward swoop for O’Brien, then they might be set for disappointment.
According to Sun journalist Alan Nixon, Leeds are looking for a midfielder with legs, and O’Brien fits the bill.
Marcelo Bielsa’s Whites are now taking a keen interest in the 22-year-old.
Leeds are obviously well known for being a very fit and intense team.
Potentially then, the Magpies face a real battle to land O’Brien ahead of their Premier League rivals, whom he would likely suit very much.
Leeds interest is bad news for Newcastle’s O’Brien pursuit
The direction in which Leeds are going makes them attractive proposition for players.

O’Brien has a fantastic engine, and could potentially be a very good fit at Elland Road.
If Newcastle still have hopes of landing Colchester-born star, then recruitment officials may have to work overtime on this one.
Terriers boss Carlos Corberan claimed O’Brien was a Premier League-standard player back in April (Leeds Live).
He certainly seems to have talent and potential, meaning Newcastle will have to get cracking if they want him.
