Newcastle United are facing competition for striker Adam Armstrong in the form of newly promoted Watford.
The Hornets are looking to bolster their attacking options ahead of the 2021/22 season, and see Armstrong as an option according to The Sun.
This, despite recently landing Josh King – a player who had also been linked with Newcastle.
The Sun say Watford could test Blackburn Rovers’ resolve over Armstrong by offering Andre Gray plus cash.
It’s explained though that Rovers would simply want cash.
They supposedly value their man at £25 million, despite him now being into the final year of his contract.
Apparently, the situation right now is that Watford and Blackburn are ‘miles apart’.
Newcastle have been linked with a move to re-sign Armstrong in recent months.
But there haven’t been any fresh claims Newcastle could be set to bid for the Englishman, whom they have a 40% sell-on clause on.

Armstrong is clearly in demand following his 28-goal haul last term.
If Newcastle want to bring him in as backup for Wilson, then the club need to starting making some moves.
The Sun are saying Blackburn value Armstrong at £25 million, but there have been reports previously bringing lower figures than that.
With him now being into his final year, one would imagine Blackburn would do very well to get that much.
