Newcastle United have increased their offer for Sven Botman according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Magpies had previously agreed a price of £30million with Lille, only for the French side to change their mind.
The Telegraph reported that Lille had upped their asking price to £36million, leaving Newcastle frustrated.
Botman’s future is yet to be resolved, with both Eddie Howe’s side and AC Milan vying for his signature. There have been conflicting reports throughout this saga, with a recent claim stating that Milan had given up trying to sign him.

That sounded like good news for Newcastle, who would have a clear run at trying to land the 22-year-old defender.
Now Romano has provided an update on the Magpies’ bid for the Dutchman.
Newcastle are ‘tempting’ Botman and Lille with increased offer
The transfer expert has spoke about Newcastle’s pursuit of Botman on the latest edition of the Que Golazo podcast.

“The player is waiting for AC Milan, but Newcastle’s proposal is very good,” Romano said.
“They are tempting him and they are tempting Lille with an important bid. It’s around €40million with add-ons. Newcastle are pushing.”
It’s unclear whether the €40million includes add-ons or if the add-ons are on top. Either way, €40million equates to £34million, which means Newcastle have upped their bid by £4million.
That figure is still shy of the £36million Lille want, but apparently it is ‘tempting’ the Ligue 1 side.

Howe will be desperate for a conclusion to this transfer saga. He is the Toon manager’s top defensive target, while Amanda Staveley is also keen to sign him.
This is the second transfer window in a row that Newcastle have struggled to sign Botman. They couldn’t agree a fee in January, and interest from AC Milan has complicated matters this summer.
It’s evident the he prefers a move to the Italian side, which is understandable. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t want to join Newcastle.
At the minute, we appear to be the closest to a deal given the offer we’ve presented to Lille. Let’s hope it’s accepted and Dan Ashworth can work his magic with Botman.
