Newcastle United are reportedly considering an eleventh-hour swoop for Atletico Madrid defender Felipe.
According to Spanish outlet COPE, the Magpies have turned their attention to the Brazilian centre-back, with just a couple of hours remaining in the January window.
Newcastle are set to announce the signing of Dan Burn from Brighton imminently.

But it could be that the Magpies try to get one more in before the 11pm deadline.
Newcastle have had real difficulty bringing in a centre-back this month.
The club tried and failed to land Sven Botman and Diego Carlos. And other names like Benoit Badiashile, James Tarkowski and Niklas Sule were also mentioned.
Cope says that Newcastle could make an offer for Felipe, who has two caps for the Brazil national team.
The 32-year-old has been with Atleti since the summer of 2019 when he joined from Porto.
To date, he has clocked up 94 appearances for the club.
His contract expires at the end of the current season, and so he would certainly not be very expensive.
Interestingly, COPE note that Atleti have interest in Clement Lenglet. It could be that the reigning Spanish giants aren’t willing to let Felipe go unless they can sign the Frenchman as a replacement.
Time is against Newcastle, as Felipe reports surface
It would be a big surprise if Newcastle pulled off a deal for Felipe at such a late stage in the window.

This report comes out of the blue. There haven’t been any reports previously regarding interest from Newcastle in the player.
Ideally Newcastle needed a couple of new centre-backs in. It looks like Burn will arrive, but Felipe is surely unlikely at this point.
