Newcastle United are reportedly eyeing a late transfer swoop for Hertha Berlin star Jordan Torunarigha.
According to Sport1 (and covered by Get German Football News), the Magpies have contacted the entourage of 24-year-old.
Apparently, he wants to leave the Bundesliga club.
Under Pal Dardai, he has managed just six minutes of football so far this term.
It’s claimed a number of other Bundesliga clubs are also taking an interest.
Torunarigha has been with Hertha since 2006, signing his first professional deal with the club 10 years later.
He has clocked up 75 appearances for the club to date.
How many more he’ll add to that tally remains to be seen. He is clearly down in the pecking order at the moment, and with two years left on his contract, the club could well sell.
German centre-half Torunarigha has previously drawn comparisons to Jerome Boateng (from Dardai) in that he is left-footed, mobile and comfortable on the ball (official Bundesliga). He also loves a raking long ball.

Time is fast running out now for Newcastle in the transfer window.
If Torunarigha is someone of genuine interest then the club need to act quickly.
Having lost the first two games and shipped six goals, it is clear new faces are badly needed for the defence.
Torunarigha would be a risk, given he isn’t even a regular at Hertha these days, but he would likely be inexpensive.
