Milan Skriniar is set to be out of contract this summer, and a new report claims that Newcastle United are expected to make an offer for the defender.

That is according to 90min, who believe that the Magpies are going to offer Skriniar a contract to move to St James’ Park once his Inter Milan deal ends.

The report adds that the 27-year-old is also expected to receive offers from Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United.

Skriniar has plenty of suitors chasing his signature, while Inter are reportedly doing their best to extend his stay at the Giuseppe Meazza.

However, 90min state that he could actually leave the Serie A side this month. They believe that PSG and Liverpool could make moves for the Slovakia international.

Elite clubs from all over Europe are interested in signing Skriniar, and this report claims that Newcastle are in the mix.

Given the competition, it will be incredibly difficult to bring him to St James’ Park. However, we do have an ace up our sleeve when it comes to this transfer pursuit.

Newcastle to offer Martin Dubravka’s international pal Milan Skriniar a contract

Skriniar has played 58 times for Slovakia, and captains his country where he has played alongside current Toon goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.

The 33-year-old is now back on Tyneside after being recalled from his loan spell at Manchester United, and is expected to remain at Newcastle for the rest of the season.

And now he could have a role in helping bring Skriniar to the North East of England. Dubravka has spoke very fondly of the centre-back in the past, describing him as an ‘amazing player‘ and someone he would like to see join Newcastle back in 2020.

That could be a possibility in the summer, with 90min claiming that Eddie Howe’s side will offer him a contract in a bid to get him on a free transfer.

A move for Skriniar would raise questions over Fabian Schar’s future. The Switzerland international is now 31, but is playing the best football of his Toon career.

However, Newcastle will need to replace him in the coming years, and securing Skriniar’s services would be a huge coup.

But given the calibre of clubs that are chasing him, it is difficult to see Skriniar joining the Magpies – even if Dubravka wants to see him in a black and white shirt.
