Newcastle United would reportedly have to fork out around £17 million if they want to sign Jordan Veretout this summer.

That’s according to Calciomercato, who report the player is ‘destined’ to leave the Stadio Olimpico.

Veretout has actually made plenty of appearances so far this season. 27 to be precise.

He was actually a regular under Jose Moutinho at the start of the season.

But starts have been a little tougher to come by in 2022.

Apparently Veretout, who once played for Aston Villa, has several teams from the Premier League interested in him. Newcastle actually get a mention in the report.

AC Milan have also supposedly been offered the midfielder. The Rossoneri are set to lose Franck Kessie when his contract expires at the end of the season.

This latest claim about Veretout having an asking price of £17 million comes after Newcastle were linked with him ahead of the January transfer window.

Ultimately there was no move for the Frenchman, but Newcastle fans were treated to the arrival of Bruno Guimaraes later in the window.

And the Brazilian is already a big favourite at St. James’ Park.

He scored a truly stunning first goal for the club last week against Southampton.

Newcastle can probably do better than Jordan Veretout in the summer window

The Magpies might be tempted to move for Veretout at £17 million.

He is undoubtedly a better player now than he was the last time he was on English shores.

But Newcastle will have time to pick and go after their targets this summer. Time was always against them in January.

It just feels as though the club could probably land someone who is a bit more high profile and has more quality.
