Newcastle United have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Abdou Diallo by Paris Saint-Germain when the January transfer window opens.
It was recently claimed in France that the Magpies are keen to sign the 25-year-old centre-back. And Newcastle World now state that PIF and co have now been made aware of Diallo’s availability.
Diallo is primarily a central defender, but he can also play at left-back. That kind of versatility will no doubt intrigue Eddie Howe, who desperately needs to improve his backline.

Newcastle have conceded the highest number of goals in the Premier League so far. Therefore, bringing in defensive reinforcements has to be the club’s priority in the January transfer window.
Newcastle transfer could lead to family reunion for Abdou Diallo
If Diallo is unsure about a move to England, perhaps he can have a word with his sibling. Ibrahima Diallo, who currently plays for Southampton, is Abdou’s younger brother.

Regardless of his family, Diallo is an intriguing option for Newcastle. He is certainly a big name, but no Premier League experience might make him a risk for Howe.
On top of that, he is also likely to be involved in the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal in January, which would hinder how soon he could make his Toon debut. Considering how desperate we are for reinforcements, that may influence how Newcastle respond to PSG’s Diallo offer.

Despite only being 25, Diallo has played for some big clubs already. In 2018 he joined Borussia Dortmund for £24million. Then one year later he went to PSG for £27million.
But his influence at PSG has been limited this season. After starting the Ligue 1 campaign with five consecutive starts, he has since spent more time on the bench.
That explains why Mauricio Pochettino’s side are keen to let him go. And how interesting it is that the Qatari-owned Parisians want to do business with the Saudi-owned Magpies…
