Newcastle United reportedly want to sign Brighton and Hove Albion winger Leandro Trossard.
That is according to 90min, who claim that Dan Ashworth is keen to sign the Belgium international for the second time in his career.
The Toon Sporting Director was the one who brought Trossard to the Premier League in 2019, and now he is keen be reunited with the 27-year-old at St James’ Park.
Trossard’s current Brighton contract expires in 2024, with the Seagulls keen to tie him down to a new deal. However, his impressive form has other teams showing an interest in his services.
Newcastle aren’t the only Premier League club who are reportedly keen. 90min add that Chelsea want to complete a deal for Trossard, who previously worked with Blues boss Graham Potter. He also has interest from Spain and Italy, the report adds.

Trossard enjoying a sensational season – no wonder Newcastle want him
Given how well Trossard has started the new season, it’s no wonder that Newcastle are keen.
He has scored five times already this season, which is one more than the Magpies’ top scorer Miguel Almiron.
Trossard’s tally is boosted by a hat-trick at Anfield, scoring all three goals in Brighton’s 3-3 draw with Liverpool at the start of October.
The former Genk man was exceptional on that day, and earned a place in Alan Shearer’s Premier League team of the week. He described Trossard’s performance as ‘simply magnificent‘.
And those kind of performances are why he would be a good addition to Eddie Howe’s squad.
The Magpies needed to sign a winger during the summer transfer window, but failed to bring anyone in. Now that mistake is looking all the more emphatic due to Allan Saint-Maximin’s injury.
While Trossard would not be a blockbuster addition, he would be a smart one. He is a proven Premier League talent with Brighton and someone who Ashworth knows well.
Capable of playing on the left or the right, signing the Belgian would be a wonderful piece of business if Newcastle can pull it off.
