Newcastle transfer news: Marcus Thuram wants Premier League move

Newcastle United have received a boost in their bid to sign Marcus Thuram, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano stating that he wants to move to the Premier League.

The Frenchman’s future is very much up in the air right now, with his contract at Borussia Monchengladbach set to expire at the end of the season.

That has led to a plethora of clubs eyeing up his signature – including Newcastle.

The Magpies are in the market for a wide forward this month, and Thuram ticks a lot of boxes. He can play anywhere across the front, and his contract situation means he should be much more affordable compared to other targets such as Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Now Romano has provided an update Thuram’s situation, as he weighs up his next move.

Romano on Thuram wanting to move to the Premier League

Transfer expert Romano has been speaking to Caught Offside about Thuram’s future.

“The Premier League is a priority for Marcus Thuramfor sure,” he said.

“Inter Milan are interested. I’m told it’s too early to decide.

“Thuram will take his time because being a free agent in June means it’s a big opportunity for him and it can change at any time.”

Saint-Maximin wants Thuram at Newcastle

Thuram is keen on a move to the Premier League, and there are plenty of top flight clubs seemingly willing to grant his wish.

According to ESPN, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Aston Villa are also interested in the 25-year-old – as well as Newcastle. However, they add that no bids have been made for the forward at this stage.

ESPN add that Thuram wants to take his game to the next level by joining a club with higher ambitions, and that is Newcastle to a tee nowadays.

The club has been completely transformed, and is on a massively upwards trajectory. Eddie Howe has galvanized this team, with European football a serious possibility for next season.

That will strengthen Newcastle’s position to tempt Thuram towards St James’ Park, and they also have another ace up their sleeve.

Thuram, who has been described as ‘world class‘, is friends with Toon talisman Allan Saint-Maximin. And he has been very vocal about wanting Thuram to join him on Tyneside.

That could give Newcastle an edge in this transfer tussle, as multiple Premier League clubs aim to sign a forward who is keen on a move to England.
