Newcastle United will reportedly not stand in Martin Dubravka’s way this summer if he wants to leave.

According to 90min, the Magpies are open to replacing the Slovakia international.

The focus of their report is how Newcastle are leading the charge for Manchester United stopper Dean Henderson.

The 25-year-old is keen to get away from Old Trafford this summer, having played second fiddle to David De Gea this season.

Henderson actually challenged De Gea last season, and finished the 2020/21 campaign with 26 appearances across all competitions.

This term, he has made just five, with the Spaniard’s personal form having been very good for the Red Devils.

Henderson is on Newcastle’s radar, but there have been claims previously that he would want to be a number one at his next club.

That would mean Eddie Howe dropping £4 million star Dubravka (The Sun), despite him having been a great servant to the club.

But 90min say Newcastle would be open to the 33-year-old moving on in the summer.

They will apparently push forward with a bid for Henderson, and won’t stand in Dubravka’s way if an opportunity arises for him.

It’s likely Newcastle won’t hold out for very much money. Dubravka didn’t cost much to begin with, has served the club well and is approaching his mid-thirties.

Dubravka still a good goalkeeper, but there’s potential to upgrade

It seems like Newcastle are genuinely keen to bring in Henderson.

And he’s looking to leave Old Trafford and become a number one again.

It points to Dubravka losing his starting berth ahead of 2022/23. That would be a shame, but Henderson is also a great goalkeeper.

It would be a sad situation to see Dubravka depart if the opportunity arose.

But the timing actually might just be right after a few successful years on Tyneside.
