Newcastle United are said to be interested in Valencia star Mouctar Diakhaby.
Spanish publication AS have claimed the Magpies are ready to make a move for the Frenchman, who is up for sale.

Central defender Diakhaby has been with Valencia since 2018. He joined the Spaniards from French club Lyon.
According to AS’ report, Diakhaby sees the current window as an opportunity to leave.
He assumes he’ll depart – and apparently there is no shortage of potential suitors.

He is not completely opposed to going back to France. But Diakhaby is keen to move to the Premier League.
Newcastle are said to be keen, as well as Leicester City. That perhaps signals the quality and potential of the player.
The article states that he is very motivated to play for the Foxes.
Leicester interest would be a problem
Diakhaby would make a great signing for Newcastle.
But going head-to-head with Leicester perhaps makes his potential signing unlikely.

Leicester is a club that is heading in the right direction and can offer European football.
As much as Newcastle might want Diakhaby, the presence of Leicester will surely make a deal difficult to pull off.
