Newcastle United’s chances of re-signing Jetro Willems this summer appear to be more than reasonable given the player’s latest comments.
The Dutchman is to leave Eintracht Frankfurt when his contract expires at the end of the month.

Willems is set for a new challenge, after failing to play for the German side since returning to fitness back in January.
Willems has not played a game since he suffered the knee injury that forced him to end his loan spell with Newcastle early.
The star has been available since the start of the year, but was consistently overlooked.
Willems has been speaking with the Chronicle, which in itself is a little ominous, about his future.

On potentially returning to Newcastle, he said: “Of course Newcastle is a very nice option for me. I was there for a long time – like, half a year – and I was enjoying the moment there. It’s a great option and it’s a club which knows me, I know them. It would be great to join them.
“To be honest I don’t know where everything stands right now. I told my agent – I’m at CAA Base now, a UK agency – I want to go on vacation first and then when I come back I’ll speak about clubs, the clubs he has interested and what is going on.”
Boost for Newcastle
Clearly Willems is very keen to come back to Newcastle.
It very much feels as though the ball is in the Magpies’ court on this one.
The player has moved to allay fears about his condition and lack of game time in recent months, saying in the interview that he feels good.

Hopefully Newcastle do move for the 27-year-old, who was a huge hit with the fans during his time on loan.
Newcastle are said to be on the hunt for free agents, and this is one the club surely can’t overlook.
