Jesse Lingard has reportedly been left ‘dismayed’ by Manchester United and their demands, with the club effectively standing in his way of a move to Newcastle United.
The Mapies want to bring the attacking midfielder in before Monday night’s transfer deadline.
And Lingard himself is reported to be keen to join.
But reports surfaced on Tuesday night that Newcastle had all but given up hope of landing Lingard because of Manchester United’s demands.
Those demands were revealed by The Guardian to be a £2.5 million loan fee, the player’s wages covered in full, and a £12 million bonus if Newcastle stayed in the Premier League.
These demands, for a player who isn’t playing at the moment and will become a free agent at the end of the season.
The Guardian have brought some information on what Lingard himself actually thinks about the situation.
He is said to be dismayed.
Apparently, he does not believe the Red Devils have shown him the respect he deserves after 21 years at the club.
Lingard supposedly thinks his club are upset with him for not signing a new contract.
ESPN have also claimed Lingard is now unconvinced a move will happen before Monday night’s deadline.
Lingard is also frustrated because his former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said he would get more first-team chances this season. That just hasn’t been the case and the arrival of Ralf Rangnick hasn’t made a difference.
At the end of this year, of course, there is the World Cup in Qatar. Lingard knows he’ll have to leave and play regularly if he to stand any chance of making Gareth Southgate’s final squad.

One wonders if we might see Jesse Lingard pull a Diego Carlos and he submits a transfer request.
Manchester United’s demands are ridiculous. And they don’t really make any sense for them, given he stands to leave them for free in the summer.
Lingard has been a great servant for them. It is shocking to see them standing in his way like this.
Some on social media have suggested this is retribution for when Newcastle reportedly demanded £50 million for Sean Longstaff.
But Newcastle were well within their rights to do that. They didn’t want to sell and he had plenty of time left on his contract.
