Newcastle United midfielder Jeff Hendrick is in line to join QPR.

According to Daily Mail reporter Craig Hope, the Republic of Ireland international is set to move to the Championship club before tonight’s transfer deadline.

Hendrick has fallen further down the pecking order at Newcastle following yesterday’s capture of Bruno Guimaraes.

The star already had the likes of Joe Willock, Miguel Almiron, Jonjo Shelvey, Sean Longstaff, and Isaac Hayden for competition.

But the arrival of Guimaraes really does make potential game time hard to come by for.

There were reports earlier today that Hendrick had been told he could leave on deadline day.

TEAMtalk had reported that Middlesbrough were in contention to land the 30-year-old.

But it appears QPR are now in pole position.

Jeff Hendrick leaving Newcastle suits all parties

So QPR have come to the table for Hendrick. It would be good for this move to go through before the deadline.

Realistically, Hendrick isn’t going to get many minutes going forwards, especially after the arrival of Guimaraes.

Unfortunately, Hendrick has never really proven himself at Newcastle.

He has had the odd good game but largely he’s left a lot to be desired since his move to the club on a free transfer.

Him going to QPR is something that suits all parties.

Newcastle need to get players out in order to make room for the players that have come in/are coming in to be a part of their update Premier League squad.
