Newcastle United are reportedly still keen to sign Hugo Ekitike this summer, with the player ‘responsive’ to the club’s interest.
According to But! Football Club, the Reims starlet is still very much a player on the Magpies’ radar, after he decided against a move to St. James’ Park in January.

Despite his ultimate rejection, Newcastle are undeterred.
They have continued to work on the potential deal behind the scenes. And Ekitike is said to be responsive to the interest.
It’s even claimed he is a top priority for Newcastle.
There is growing optimism that a deal can be done, and that the club can beat the likes of Borussia Dortmund to his signature.
The Germans could lose Erling Haaland this summer, and have been tipped to move for Ekitike to replace him.
Supposedly, a deal could cost Newcastle in excess of £25 million.
The club are currently just waiting for Ekitike to give the go-ahead.
Hugo Ekitike would be a very exciting addition for Newcastle, and a statement of intent
This claim is very promising.
Newcastle couldn’t get the deal done in January. It was understandable that he didn’t quite feel ready to make the move mid-season.

But it seems he’s curious about the switch, and Newcastle certainly seem to like him.
With 10 goals and four assists this term, he is definitely a very talented young player.
It would be a very exciting move by the club. And also, a real statement of intent because Ekitike is on the radars of lots of clubs.
