Newcastle United are one of multiple Premier League clubs keen on signing James Ward-Prowse, who looks set to leave Southampton this summer.
The Saints are currently bottom of the Premier League, with relegation looming. That could lead to a mass exodus at Southampton, and one player who could be on his way out is the captain Ward-Prowse.
He has recently been linked with a move to Newcastle, and a new report from 90min has provided fresh insight on the prospect of the England international changing clubs ahead of next season.
Ward-Prowse ready to leave Southampton, he’ll cost £50m
According to 90min, Ward-Prowse is ready to leave Southampton if they suffer relegation to the Championship.
That looks like a genuine possibility, with the Saints currently bottom of the league with seven games to go. They are four points adrift at the moment.

It appears that Southampton will be prepared to let the 28-year-old leave, but only for a large sum of money. The report adds that they want a fee of around £50million to sell a player who was described as ‘world class‘ by former manager Nathan Jones.
Newcastle officials are big fans of JWP
That fee makes him attainable for Newcastle, who are interested in bringing the midfielder to St James’ Park.
90min state that manager Eddie Howe and Sporting Director Dan Ashworth are big fans of Ward-Prowse, with the club being kept up to date with the latest regarding his future on the South Coast.
Ward-Prowse would be a great character to add to this Newcastle squad. He has proven himself to be a leader over the years at Southampton, and would bring the same qualities to the North East.
A move to Newcastle would surely appeal too – especially if the Magpies achieve Champions League qualification. Ward-Prowse has never played in Europe’s elite competition, and would relish the chance to put his free-kick taking ability to the test up against some of the world’s best.
There is interest from elsewhere, with 90min believing that Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa are keen.
