Reported Newcastle United target Gabriel Barbosa is reportedly keen on the idea of linking up Joelinton.

The January transfer window is now open, and fans are excited to see who could be coming into the club.

Eddie Howe essentially needs five or six new players to have a good chance of keeping the club in the Premier League.

Defenders need to be the priority.

Newcastle have conceded far too many goals so far this season.

But there is also scope for a new striker, with Callum Wilson back on the sidelines.

He is facing up to six weeks out and so the Magpies simply must sign someone to replace him, with Dwight Gayle a questionable back-up.

Apparently Newcastle like Flamengo star Barbosa – also known as Gabigol.

There have been reports the club could make a loan move for the South American and insert an £17 million option to buy.

And it seems Barbosa would be open to joining the revolution.

The Chronicle say the 25-year-old wouldn’t mind linking up with his fellow countryman Joelinton, who is very much the darling of St. James’ at the moment.

Could Newcastle enlist the help of Agent Joelinton to secure Gabriel Barbosa?

This makes for encouraging reading.

Joelinton is very much an example of a Brazilian player being a real hit at Newcastle.

It took him a while to get there, but he has been a revelation this season in a struggling team, and this new box-to-box role is very exciting to witness.

One wonders if he could perhaps play a part in bringing Barbosa to Newcastle this month.

The pair are the same age and both represented the Brazil U17s so there is a chance they may have been previously acquainted.
