Newcastle United have been linked with signing Cody Drameh from Leeds United, but will now have to take their right-back search elsewhere.
That is because the 21-year-old has moved to Luton Town on loan for the rest of the season. The deal was confirmed on Thursday evening, after it had been heavily rumoured by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Leeds Live had also reported that a temporary switch for Drameh looked likely, which would end Newcastle’s pursuit of the youngster.
That has proven to be the case, with the defender moving to the Championship in January for the second year in a row. Last season he went to Cardiff and was so good that he was named the Bluebirds’ Young Player of the Season.
A similar impact at Luton will delight the Hatters, and it will also delight Jesse Marsch, who plans to include Drameh in the Leeds first-team next season.

This deal is a blow for Newcastle, as Drameh was one of various young right-backs that Dan Ashworth has been looking to sign.
No deal for Cody Drameh as Newcastle search continues
Newcastle are currently in the market for a young right-back who can provide cover for Kieran Trippier before eventually replacing the 32-year-old.
Drameh emerged as a target last year, with the Daily Mail stating that the Magpies were tracking the out-of-favour youngster. Fabrizio Romano also backed up the claim that Newcastle wanted Drameh, who has made just one Premier League appearance this season.
But despite his limited minutes, Marsch clearly sees a future in Drameh. That is why he has only been loaned out, rather than securing a permanent move to someone like Newcastle or even Borussia Dortmund, who were also interested.
The Magpies have been linked with plenty of young right-backs this month, but our options appear to be dwindling.
Drameh has gone to Luton on loan, while Ivan Fresneda is choosing between Arsenal and Dortmund. As for Malo Gusto, he is a major target for Chelsea.
The only other credible target is Harrison Ashby, who remains at West Ham. His contract is due to expire in the summer, and was reportedly denied a move to St James’ Park last year.
