Newcastle United playmaker Miguel Almiron is expected to remain with the club beyond the summer.

The Athletic have reported the Paraguay international should still be a Newcastle player come the end of the current transfer window.

Steve Bruce may consider offers for the player.

But the club’s asking price is unlikely be met according to the publication.

There is a suggestion the Magpies would want to receive £16 million at the very least.

It has been a mixed bag for Almiron at Newcastle following his transfer from Atlanta United in January 2019.

The South American took a while to settle, failing to score in his first 26 outings for the club.

Gradually, he has shown himself to be one of the team’s most dangerous and hardworking players.

But there is still a lack of consistency.

There continues to be uncertainty surrounding his future, with the player’s agent having previously stirred the pot.

Good news but Almiron needs to reach next level

Almiron staying at the club would be a boost.

He does improve the starting XI when he’s in it, and he has the potential to be a top player.

But he needs to contribute more goals and assists.

He’s probably had enough time in England now to have gotten a good feel for the Premier League.

Fans are within their rights to expect him to step up in 2021/22.
