Newcastle transfer news: Boubacar Kamara wants £150,000-a-week

Boubacar Kamara reportedly wants £150,000-a-week from his next club, amid reported interest from Newcastle United.

According to The Sun, the Magpies are taking a keen interest in the defensive midfielder, who will become a free agent at the end of this season.

The publication say Kamara could potentially be signed on a pre-contract agreement, or right now.

But his wage demands are apparently causing snags.

It is stated that Newcastle are unsure about committing to paying such money.

Kamara is one of the brightest prospects in Ligue 1 at the moment.

He is seemingly very coveted, with the fact he becomes a free agent at the end of the season making him an attractive proposition.

West Ham United are also keen on the player, and Manchester United have also been linked in recent days.

It remains to be seen how serious Newcastle are about signing Kamara.

The club have the finances to blow the competition out of the water. But their current predicament could make it a difficult deal to do.

West Ham are flying this season, and have a good chance to secure European football next season.

Boubacar Kamara is reportedly asking for a lot of money

Kamara has the potential to become a special player.

But he is asking for a lot of money. And just because Newcastle can, doesn’t necessarily mean they should.

It would be a lot to pay someone who is still quite young and obviously doesn’t have any Premier League experience.

For context, £150,000-a-week is more than double what Jonjo Shelvey – Newcastle’s regular deep-lying midfielder – takes home (£70,000-a-week, Spotrac).

Newcastle must determine whether getting Kamara in on such wages would be worth the risk.
